Tjitze De Vries from Holland has already spent nearly 20 years in Costa Rica. Along with his wife and their three young children they moved three years ago from the Zona Sur to Miravalles, a beautiful town but located in a cool climate.
“We bathed with cold water when we lived in the Zona Sur but once here we found the water so cold I decided to install an electric water heater in the shower. Unfortunately it did not supply enough water for the whole family and it just made the ICE bills rise to more than 60,000 colones per month “.
Thanks to an acquaintance who had installed a renewable energy system in a neighboring town, I learned of the existence of Purasol and decided to install a solar water heater in our home.
The installation was made by Pierre and was a true example of advanced technology due to the strong roof pitch.
Now Mr. De Vries is thrilled with the decision he took at the time: “The water heater of 200 liters is enough for daily showers for my family and for the washing machine. There is even too much hot water. It’s so hot that we have to mix it with lots of cold water, and this at any time of the day or night during summer and winter. “
“At first there was a small problem, a small leak, that Pierre could fix the same day that I called. It cost me nothing because according Pierre the warranty covered everything. I am very happy with the efficiency and speed of Pierre and his team; they come if there is the slightest problem, if it can be the same day or at most 1 or 2 days later and they solve it.”
“But of course, the most important is the savings involved in using solar energy: only by having a solar shower we could lower the ICE bill of over 60,000 per month to 35,000 colones. If you don’t believe it just check my bill! “
